Anything else?
ñɔɔzɩIs there anything else the system administrators need to do (that can't be done on-wiki by normal users or cross-wiki admins) to configure this wiki properly? - dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 28 Hasɩyaɖɛ fenaɣ 2017 à 18:31 (GMT)
- Hi dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ), thanks for asking. I'm not quite sure what your responsibilities are as a system administrator, but here are a few ideas: [...] Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 16 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 19:25 (GMT) [Note: The rest of this reply has been split into the subsections below.]

Home page
ñɔɔzɩIt would be great to have a more attractive home page (Talɩ ɖeu) with featured articles. Any idea how to set that up? Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 16 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 19:25 (GMT)
- Regarding Talɩ ɖeu, I would suggest you look though the Main Pages of the other Wikipedias (especially ones for similar/related languages) and find one you like. Then copy the wikicode over and adapt it for this wiki. (I strongly recommend you start with something simple, though, as this wiki would surely lack any templates or Lua modules required to implement anything too fancy.) dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 22:23 (GMT)
- I have just taken a look at the Ewe Wikipedia (another Togolese language) which has the 'featured article' function which it would be good to copy. But I don't understand enough about Wiki syntax to copy and edit it. If you want to try it, we'd welcome your help. Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Saŋayɩŋ fenaɣ 2017 à 21:11 (GMT)
- I'll have to look at this later. - dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 1 Kɔlaɣ fenaɣ 2018 à 05:17 (GMT)

Search box prefix
ñɔɔzɩOn this page, the search box contains the incubator prefix "Wp/kbp" by default... Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 16 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 19:25 (GMT)
- I don't see the "Wp/kbp" prefix at Spécial:Index. - dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 22:23 (GMT)
- The prefix is not present at Spécial:Index, but it is at this page Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Saŋayɩŋ fenaɣ 2017 à 21:11 (GMT)
- I'm guessing you followed a link to that page that already contained that prefix. (If so, just edit the page where that link came from.) To be more specific: if you follow a link to Spécial:Index that contains a prefix, that prefix will appear in the search box (and the namespace will be pre-selected if the prefix is, or starts with, a valid namespace name). See, for example: Spécial:Index/CoolNewPrefix and Spécial:Index/Modèle:CoolNewPrefix (and the
last 2 links in the previous bullet pointlinks to "templates" and "LUA modules" in the previous subsection). - dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 22:23 (GMT) [reworded on 1 Kɔlaɣ fenaɣ 2018 à 04:14 (GMT)]- Errr, you've lost me there, but perhaps I wasn't clear enough. Starting from the Talɩ Ɖeu (Welcome) page, when you click on the link "Pɩlɩŋ tɩŋa" (all categories), it takes you to this page. On this page, the box entitled "Afficher les pages commençant par:" always contains the text ""Wp/kbp". I would like to get rid of this, because it is a prefix associated with the incubator articles. Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Saŋayɩŋ fenaɣ 2017 à 21:11 (GMT)
- It just required removing the "Wp/kbp" text from the links at Talɩ ɖeu. You should find that the "Takayɩhatʊ tɩŋa" and "Pɩlɩŋ tɩŋa" links now work as desired. I took the opportunity to make many other changes to that page, as well. Hopefully none of my changes are too offensive… [grin] - dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 1 Kɔlaɣ fenaɣ 2018 à 05:17 (GMT)

Wrongly named pages
ñɔɔzɩ...and one incubator article is listed under this (Wp/kbp/Ɛsɔgaɣ ɖɔnɛ lɛɣtʋ). Can both of these be deleted please? Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 16 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 19:25 (GMT)
- As for deleting badly-named pages, that can only be done once this wiki has a local admin (in the meantime, "emergencies" can be handled by making a request at m:Steward requests/Miscellaneous). Tagging the page with the {{delete}} template is an approach that should work whether or not a local admin exists: stewards can see pages tagged for deletion across different wikis and are able to delete "obvious cases"; anything that requires knowledge of the local language, however, (or may be controversial for some reason) will have to wait until there's a local admin. - dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 22:23 (GMT)
- Over the last three months, I've had admin rights (see below), so I've been able to delete all the unwanted/inappropriate articles and rename lots of others Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Saŋayɩŋ fenaɣ 2017 à 21:11 (GMT)
Admin rights
ñɔɔzɩOn the incubator, I had administrator rights, and am trying to find out how to renew these now we're on the real platform. Is that something you can help me with please? Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 16 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 19:25 (GMT)
- To become an admin on this wiki, first start a discussion at some local page that is appropriate for discussing picking administrators. (While the discussion could happen here on this talk page, it's probably better to create a dedicated page in the project namespace and just announce its existence here.) On other wikis such discussions might happen at their Village Pump or at a more specific page called, say, Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. (Obviously, the page title should be in Kabiye, if you can do that.) After getting community consensus for making you an admin (permanent or temporary), make a request at m:Steward requests/Permissions. In the future, if someone becomes a bureaucrat on this wiki (again, none yet), then requests to become an admin (following community consensus) can be handled locally by that user (i.e., bureaucrats can add users to, and remove users from, different user groups). - dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Kɩyɛɛna fenaɣ 2017 à 22:23 (GMT)
- I was an administrator on the Kabiye Wikipedia incubator project, and was then given 3 months adminship when it migrated to the main platform. Seems like that's now run out, so I've just posted a renewal request here. Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 17 Saŋayɩŋ fenaɣ 2017 à 21:11 (GMT)
- I don't know much about this beyond what I said above, but it seems that what you're doing is correct — although you might want to be a bit more specific at Wikipediya:Requests for adminship#Current requests for adminship and clarify that you want "permanent" administrator rights (i.e., not for a specific, limited period of time); or, if you do actually want it to be temporary but just for a longer amount of time, specify how long you want it for. After some users say yes (and hopefully no one says no), you should be able to reapply at m:Steward requests/Permissions#Administrator access. I've created an extremely-bare-bones Community Portal page and linked to the adminship discussion, as suggested by StevenJ81. You should probably add Kabiye text there, saying the same thing. - dcljr (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 1 Kɔlaɣ fenaɣ 2018 à 05:59 (GMT)

ʊ or ʋ
ñɔɔzɩHi!
This main page and several other pages on this wiki use the letter ʊ several times.
Is it correct?
Maybe it's better to use the letter ʋ?
Pinging User:Gnangbade and User:Siraq123, who seem to be the most active users here. --Amir E. Aharoni (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 18 Saŋayɩŋ fenaɣ 2018 à 22:05 (GMT)
- I would favour using <ʊ> for the reasons I outlined in our e-mail correspondence Gnangbade (ndɔncɔɔlɩyɛ) 20 Saŋayɩŋ fenaɣ 2018 à 16:49 (GMT)
